New Year, New Look

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes! We’ve been going through them at NewTown Macon to better serve our community and to help us move closer to realizing our vision of a vibrant and authentic city experience unparalleled in the South.

We grew significantly this past year, thanks to our generous supporters and our board of directors. In 2021, our lending arm, NewTown Loans, became the first and only designated Community Development Financial Institution in Central Georgia. This designation will help us award more loans to local entrepreneurs and real estate developers, with a focus on those who have been historically denied access to financial capital and resources. We created four new staff positions that will help us serve more loan clients and communicate our efforts. And we continued to focus on enhancing the downtown experience through the efforts of the Business Improvement District, Main Street Macon, and the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail (OHT)

As NewTown Macon continues to grow and experience success, we have worked to update some of our branding and communication efforts to better tell our story and help our stakeholders understand who we are, what we do, and most importantly, why we do it.

New Look

The work of the Business Improvement District, Main Street Macon, the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail Committee, and NewTown Loans all aligns with and furthers the mission and vision of NewTown. All these entities and their respective board and committee members work to create a vibrant city experience by activating and improving our public spaces, telling our story, and investing in locals who will keep the vibe of downtown authentic.

Even though the work of these auxiliary organizations has always bolstered NewTown Macon’s mission, their visual identities have not presented a united front, until now. We worked with Burt & Burt to give all of our logos a refresh and create new visual marks for NewTown Loans. Our new branding package incorporates the rosette in each logo and introduces a new color palette that is incorporated in the new logos.

Fresh Website

Our website got a refresh in 2021! The content you know and love, like the Loft Finder, commercial and residential market studies, and OHT information is still there but we cleaned up the navigation and added exciting, new content.

When you visit our website, check out the top right-hand corner for three new tabs about Downtown Macon, the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail, and NewTown Loans. We think of these as micro-sites that help our stakeholders and clients easily find information about the places they love and the resources they need. Visit the Downtown Macon tab to play tourist in your hometown and build an itinerary for your weekend. Click the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail tab to learn more about the history of the trail and new connections under construction. Check out the NewTown Loans tab to learn more about our lending efforts and to sign up for training opportunities, coaching, and to apply for a loan.
