Downtownโ€™s growing collection of public art, mix of galleries, and ample opportunities for live theatre and film, make Macon the regional hub of arts and culture in Middle Georgia.ย 

Take a stroll around downtown to admire the diversity of architecture and to spot pieces along the Macon Sculpture Walk. Pieces rotate out annually and make for Instagram-worthy photo spots. Visit one of downtownโ€™s seven galleries for photography, pottery, and paintings. Take a ride to the south side of downtown and check out Triangle Arts Macon. Graffiti adorns the exterior walls of the buildings on-site, making it another spot for Instagram lovers.ย 

If you want to try your hand at creating your own art, sign up for a class at X-Art Sip and Paint Lounge, the 567 Center for Renewal, Macon Clay, StARTup Studios, or the Mulberry Arts Center. There are classes for all skill levels and interests. Most classes are social experiences to enjoy with a group of friends or during a date night.ย 

Film enthusiasts will find regular programming at The Douglass Theatre. Between the Douglassโ€™ regular film series and the Macon Film Guildโ€™s monthly programming, there are many opportunities to watch independent and foreign films. Plus, film screenings are only $5 and concessions are under $2!ย 

ย Maconโ€™s has a robust live theatre scene. Theatre Maconโ€™s season features dramas, musicals, and comedies featuring local talent. The Grand books touring Broadway Shows in addition to offering locally-focused programming such as Storytellers Macon and a seasonal movie series.ย

Every month, Macon Film Guild presents foreign, independent and art-house movies that would otherwise never be seen in Middle Georgia. Films are selected by a local board with excellent taste and refreshments are less than $5!
