On Saturday, December 9 from 2pm to 6pm, NewTown Macon will host Christmas in Downtown in partnership with Just Tap’d Macon and Fall Line Brewing Co.
Christmas in Downtown is Middle Georgia’s largest family-friendly Christmas festival celebrating small businesses. The festival features free hot chocolate, selfies with Santa Claus, music, and holiday crafts.
Activities during Christmas in Downtown take place from 2pm to 6pm at various locations throughout downtown Macon. Event attendees should start their day in Cotton Avenue Plaza for photo opportunities, crafts, and to pick up a list of activities and scavenger hunt. Locations of activities are listed below:
- Holiday Headquarters in Cotton Avenue Plaza
- Candy cane ornament craft
- Snow globe photo opportunity
- “Deck the Halls” scavenger hunt
- Free s’mores from 4pm to 6pm
- Letters to Santa and pop-up caroling at the Rookery (543 Cherry St.)
- 2:30pm -Vineville Academy
- 5:30pm -Theatre Macon’s cast of The 1940s Radio Hour
- Paint your Own Ornament ($3) and free hot cocoa at The 567 Center for Renewal (456 First St.)
- Selfies with Santa at Just Tap’d (488 First St.) and performance by Kali Dance Studio at 5pm
- Make your own star ornament station at Just Tap’d (488 First St.)
- Make your own hat station at Fall Line Brewing Co. (567 Plum St.)
- Christmas-themed cookie and cupcake decorating at Felicia’s Cake Factory (365 Third St.)
- Free hot chocolate at Ocmulgee Brewpub (484 Second St.)
- Holiday open house and natural ornament station at Lawrence Mayer Florist (608 Mulberry St.)
- Christmas art activity at Bear’s Books (835 Forsyth St.)
- Winter Artist Market at McEachern Art Center –until 4pm (332 Second St.)
- Holiday face painting at Wear (421 Third St.)
- Sidewalk sale at Elizabeth’s Vintage Boutique (586 Poplar St.)
- Ornament-making station at Hello Boba Café –until 5pm (359 Third St.)
- Hot cocoa and sugar cookie decorating at Chic Culture (446 Cotton Ave.)
- Free hot chocolate and cookie with purchase at Baldinos (596 Cherry St.)
Christmas in Downtown concludes at 6pm. Event attendees are encouraged to stay downtown to eat dinner at one of downtown’s 55 locally owned and operated restaurants and enjoy the Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza.
