NewTown Macon Accepting Applications For Entrepreneur’s Academy

Macon, GA –NewTown Macon is now accepting applications for its 2022 Entrepreneur’s Academy cohort. Entrepreneur’s Academy equips aspiring entrepreneurs and current business owners with foundational skills to grow and scale their business concepts successfully and sustainably. Applications close on Tuesday, March 1 at 5pm.

“Our group training programs at NewTown provide participants with the time, expertise, tools, and support they need to truly succeed in their business ventures,” said Bethany Rogers, Executive Director of NewTown Loans. “With each cohort, we grow our entrepreneurial community and empower more of our residents to launch and grow businesses, make smart investments, and build their wealth.”

NewTown Macon launched the Entrepreneur’s Academy to provide training and professional leadership development to aspiring and growth-oriented entrepreneurs. By the end of the course, participants will have completed key components of their start-up or growth plan. The program also focuses on the basics of business finance and how to successfully secure funding for business ventures, including applying for a first-time small business loan from NewTown Loans.

“In the Academy, we use a variety of teaching tools, like course videos, class exercises, guest speakers, and financial spreadsheets,” said Ricardo Cordew, NewTown Loans’ Business Consultant. “We cover crucial business management topics to deliver a training program that is vital for the growth of any local entrepreneur.”

The Entrepreneur’s Academy is a hybrid course that includes in-person classes and virtual learning. Graduates of the academy will learn how to develop an informed and complete business canvas or condensed business plan that also includes financial projections. The course curriculum will help entrepreneurs develop their value proposition, target customer, customer success delivery, financial reports, and teach sustainable business funding and wealth-building strategies. The program ends with a final pitch presentation before a panel of guest judges. Participants receive input on improving their concept to successfully startup or scale their business after graduation.

Anthony Howard, owner of Gamez on Wheelz, graduated from the Entrepreneur’s Academy in 2018. “By participating in the Entrepreneur’s Academy, I learned to access my market to see the customers’ needs, understand financial projections, and generate a detailed business plan that contains business goals, the methods on how these goals can be attained, and the timeframe within which these goals need to be achieved,” said Howard.
