Celebrate literacy and learning as we honor Dr. Seuss’ birthday during Read Across America Week! Join us during March First Friday for family-friendly crafts, games, and book giveaways inspired by Dr. Seuss throughout downtown Macon!
Visit NewTown Macon’s First Friday Family Fun Zone in Third Street Park (in front Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen) for a Seuss-tastic time!
From 5:30pm to 7:30pm there will be games, crafts, photobooth, and more set up from the following organizations:
United Way of Central Georgia
Junior League of Macon
The Middle Georgia Regional Library
Macon Periods Easier
Bike Walk Macon
Mercer Educators in Action
Boys and Girls Club
Bibb County Health Department
There will also be a LIVE children’s band, Green Grass Green, in Third Street Park!
After enjoying the fun in Third Street Park, pick up a map from NewTown Macon and take time to explore downtown Macon for more Seuss fun:
Go on a StoryWalk™ and read “The Foot Book” in the windows of downtown businesses!
Hunt for Seuss characters hidden in downtown businesses for the chance to win a $100 gift card to your favorite downtown business.
As Dr. Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
The StoryWalk™ Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition (VBPC) and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.
